For the past 3
years Hillston Farm has been serving lunches to bus tour
groups in our garden / homestead.
It is ideally
situated halfway between Durban and Cape Town (the R56 is a
beautiful road and is tarred all the way) and between Cape
Town and Johannesburg. It is also halfway between Port
Elizabeth, East London and Bloemfontein.
We offer a light
lunch served with white/red wine, beer and juice followed by
tea/coffee with a finger pudding. We also offer tours to our
shearing shed, which used to be a barracks in the Anglo Boer
War as well as a tour to our cottage, which was built in the
late 1800’s of ironstone and the braai-rondavel, which was a
blockhouse in the Anglo Boer War. Bushman etchings are found
in the koppie close to the house, which can also serve as a
short tour.
Although Hillston
Farm concentrates on serving lunches to bus groups they also
have the option of overnighting or spending a few wonderful
days on a working farm. Our cottage is 3 star graded
(Tourism Grading Council of South Africa) and is AA Highly
Recommended. At present we can sleep 6 people in our cottage
but within 6km there are 2 more guesthouses which are also 3
star graded and together we can sleep 25 people.
All bus tour
lunches have to be pre-booked. Please contact us for further
information or for a quotation with a proposed menu.
We look forward
to welcoming you and your tour group to Hillston Farm!
